BODEGA CATENA ZAPATA Cabernet Sauvignon 'Alta' 2013

Catena has gained an international reputation for great Cabernet wines, and this is no exception. The 2013 Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Block 3 of the La Pirámide Vineyard in the Agrelo district of Luján de Cuyo, Block 2 of the Domingo Vineyard in the Villa Bastías district of Tupungato, and Block 2 of the Nicasia Vineyard in the Altamira district of San Carlos in the southern end of the Uco Valley. These vineyards are all set on sandy loam soil and at exceedingly high elevations (3,117-3,675 feet). The Cabernet is exceedingly smooth and begins with aromas of mocha, tar, black cherry, and smoked pork shoulder, as this has a smoky aromatic edge. The palate is smooth and viscous with flavors of black cherry, black olive, milk chocolate and sagebrush. This polished Cabernet shows that Catena is on top of their game. (Best 2016-2026) - August, 2016 (OB)
