The 2013 'Patriota' by Tikal is comprised of 60% Malbec with the rest Bonarda. There are wonderful aromatics reminiscent of white pepper, black plum and sage with black cherry elements. The palate is dense and plush, yielding rich flavors of black cherry liquor, black raspberry, milk chocolate shavings and hints of creosote as the minerality shines through. Overall, this is an excellent value which is showing well now, but should also benefit from some short-term cellaring. (Best 2017-2021) - March, 2017 (OB)
