The 2014 Penfolds 'RWT' is a Barossa Valley Shiraz that was aged only in French oak. The initials RWT stand for ‘Red Winemaking Trial’, which ironically was the name given to the project internally when the project was started in 1995. The 2014 'RWT' is a massive wine that will need some time in the decanter to develop. Once aroused, the wine begins with a massive nose with aromatics of black plum, Turkish coffee and black tea with mocha. This leads to flavors of mint, black cherry, creme de cassis, mocha and hints of eucalyptus. Try to give this exciting wine another year to settle before fully enjoying.
