CHÂTEAU CHEVAL BLANC, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2009

The 2009 Château Cheval Blanc is an utterly striking wine for the ages and must be in the conversation for wine of the vintage. This immediately impresses with its utterly captivating aromatics of blackberries and ripe dark plums which are laces with roasted coffee, warm exotic spices, savory herbs and hints of charcoal nuances all bursting from the glass. On the palate this displays an absolutely incredible combination of concentration and precision. It goes on to impress with its gorgeous supple texture and remarkable finesse, as well as outstanding overall balance. It continues to thoroughly impress as layers of ripe dark fruits combine with toasted spices, roasted coffee and graphite that expand seamlessly through the finish which shows incredible length. The 2009 will certainly go down as one off the all-time great vintages for Cheval Blanc. Composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc.
