The 1998 Château Quinault L'Enclos has a wonderful dark appearance, as it sits in the glass it releases aromas of sweet berry fruits and ripe cassis along with a bit of herbal quality, likely from the 20% Cabernet Franc in the blend. This offers a gorgeous lush texture and demonstrates remarkable balance. This all comes together on the palate with a lovely spiciness and plenty of mocha and chocolate along with some vanilla too, obviously indicative of the oak treatment but it is very well integrated. The medium finish brings some lingering blueberries. A fantastic wine that could easily last another 10 years. - September, 2013 (JR)
