The 2015 Troplong Mondot is a total beauty and one of the most compelling wines from Saint-Émilion in this vintage. Composed of predominately Merlot with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it displays an impressive dark, inky color with seductive aromatics of ripe dark cherries and blackberries woven together with graphite, violets, tobacco and lovely traces of spicy nuances all filling the glass. This is full, round and voluptuous, yet remarkably well balanced and structured with plush layers of ripe fruits expanding beautifully across the palate, as it all comes together seamlessly on the long, opulent finish. While the ripe characteristics make this accessible in its youth, don't underestimate its aging potential, as there is a long future ahead for this stunning Saint-Émilion.
