The 1990 Château Clinet is a truly majestic wine which completely captivates all of the senses. It begins with simply intoxicating aromas of black cherries and sweet cassis along with spices, tobacco, pain grille, mineral and a touch of lightly toasted coconut which all take shape in this compelling Pomerol. On the palate this is remarkably balanced with the well-integrated tannins making for a lush, velvety texture as it glides seamlessly across the palate. This continues to impress with remarkable depth and complex character all the way through the finish. This is a complete wine, which I feel is drinking at its peak right now, however there is plenty of signs indicating it should continue to hold up and drink well for at least another decade. The 1990 Clinet is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, wine ever made from the Château. (Best 2016-2026) - January, 2016 (JD)
