The founding family of this estate, presumably of Scottish origin sometimes documented as Demay, who lived in France since the Middle Ages and were installed in Pomerol at the end of the 16th century. Records indicate the family by royal ordnance became masters of the fief of Certan, or Sertan, making this the oldest vignoble of the district. The 5 hectare vineyard, set on clay and gravel soils, is comprised of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Pommerol begins with aromas of red currant, red cherry, mushroom and forest floor. This leads to flavors of mocha, anise, creme de cassis, blood orange and incredible warmth and minerality. This is intense and terroir driven wine -- an absolutely stunning effort from this estate. The wine has aged gracefully and is drinking at its peak. (Best 2016-2026) - January, 2015 (OB)
