CHÂTEAU SEGUR DE CABANAC Saint-Estèphe 'Reserve' 2012

The 60-year-old parcels which make the Château Segur de Cabanac 'Reserve' are nestled in right behind Château Montrose along the Garonne river in Saint-Estèphe, and the wine itself is made by Jean-François Delon, who receives consulting from Eric Boissenot. The 2012 is a fantastic showing, with notable concentration and a forward personality which delivers aromas and flavors of black cherries and dark currants woven together with espresso, spices and minerals. It continues to impress with its lovely plush texture, wonderful overall balance and seamless finish. The 2012 really becomes expressive when given air contact and should be a wine that will continue to show well over the next decade. (Best 2016-2028) - May, 2015 (JD)
