The 2016 Château Machard Montagne Saint-Émilion starts off with aromatics of dark cherries and cassis that come together with damp soil, tobacco, roasted herbs, spices and hints of eucalyptus. This medium-bodied red is nicely structured around fine-grained tannins that provide nice traction on the palate. Shows a wonderful combination of fruit and acidity that keeps it fresh and inviting through the finish. Fantastic now, but should become even more compelling with a year or two of bottle age.
