CHÂTEAU GRAND TAYAC Margaux 'Reserve' 2010

The 2010 Grand Tayac Reserve is a sensational blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot from vines 40+ years in age, rooted in soils of deep Garonne gravel and rich sand. It opens with wonderful aromas of blackberries and dark cherries followed by tobacco, pain grille, spices and charcoal, which burst from the glass. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, showing a plush texture and fantastic balance. There is a nice hint of underlying minerality as it heads into the long finish, which leaves behind flavors of dark berries and charcoal notes. Eric Boissenot is the consultant winemaker at Tayac, he also consults for four of the five first growths of Bordeaux – Lafite Rothschild, Château Margaux, Latour, and Mouton Rothschild.
