In 2008 Château Margaux showed its pedigree and why it is so special. In a vintage with few bright spots, Château Margaux excelled and was able to perform extreamly well, releaseing a gorgeous wine characterised by wonderful elegance. As it unwinds, aromas of dark cherries, plum, graphite, mineral and floral all come to life with each swirl of the glass. On the palate this is fine-tuned and possesses excellent overall structure and balance, showing remarkable focus all the way through the long finish. The Château clearly sacrificed quantity for quality in 2008, only selecting a small fraction of their fruit for the first wine. Today, it is still a bit backwards and will need some additional time, but that being said, it is an absolutely sensational showing in this challenging vintage.
