1982 was an outstanding vintage in Bordeaux with exceptional growing conditions leading to fast growth and ripening resulting in fruit with remarkable levels in richness and sugar. The '82 from Château Latour brings classic Paulliac aromas of blackberries and cassis which come soaring out of the glass, followed by cedar and tobacco. Very dense with sweet opulent fruit, tobacco and a bit of chocolate to go with the cherry liqueur on the finish. Wine is lush but in the background, that the feeling that a sleeping giant is lurking. In my opinion, the best of the 1982 vintage and could last another 25+ years. If you ever get the opportunity to taste this wine, don't pass it up! - September, 2013 (JR)
