The 2004 'Les Forts de Latour' is an absolutely gorgeous effort from this vintage and showcases the pedigree of Château Latour and the depth of quality they can achieve, even with a second wine made in a more challaging vintage. After a decade in bottle this is just begining to hit its stride, as it releases wonderful aromatics of red cherries and wild blackberry along with leather, burnt orange with nuances of cigar box accents adding further to its wonderful aromatic range. The palate is exceedingly smooth, as much of the tannins have begun to resolve, resulting in a luxurious mouthfeel, which yeilds currants, red cherries, cigar box, lavender and smoky flavors which carry on through the gorgeous finish. While this is already impressive, I can also see the potential for this to continue to evolve gracefully for another decade (Best 2017-2026)
