The 2013 Morgeot Les Fairendes is drop-dead gorgeous and a simply striking wine from Pierre-Yves Colin. After a few years of cellaring, this fabulous Chassagne-Montrachet is just beginning to hit its stride. As it slowly unwinds in the glass it releases inviting aromas of lemon oil, tropical fruits, vanilla blossoms, crushed stones and a lovely saline streak. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous round texture that is underlined by the perfect touch of acidity to provide just enough energy to lift the wine. It remains balanced and precise, with flavors of tropical fruits that combine beautifully with saline and stoney minerality that extends through the finish. This is simply delightful today, but it also has plenty to offer and should continue to cellar beautifully for quite some time.
