DOMAINE M & S OGIER Condrieu 'La Combe de Malleval' 2013

2015 TOP 100 WINES | Rank #30

The 2013 Condrieu 'la Combe de Malleval' from Stepane Ogier is absolutely gorgeous. This cuvée is a blend of 2 parcels: the first is a parcel in Veauvignière purchased 2007, and the second is a parcel that Stéphane began leasing in 2009 named La Combe, near St Pierre de Boeuf. The vines are 25-years-old and are planted to granite soils with a southern exposure. The wine itself is absolutely striking as it opens with beautiful, fresh aromas of white peach, lychee, jasmine, honeysuckle and hints of banana crème along with lime and white tea. It continues to impress on the palate, where is displays a lovely rich texture, outstanding balance and a remarkable freshness that lasts through the finish. Today, this is absolutely outstanding and it should continue to drink well over the next five years. (Best 2015-2020) - August, 2015 (JD)
