The 2017 Côte du Py Morgon is an absolutely brilliant wine from this legendary producer. Côte du Py is one of the most iconic vineyards in Beaujolais. When you have a top producer and a top vineyard the sky is the limit, and that is just the case for the 2017. This brilliant wine begins with a gorgeous range of pure, vibrant aromatics consisting of red cherries, wild red berries and raspberries along with fresh violets, dried spices, orange zest and crushed stones that all develop in the glass and continue to carry follow on the palate. This is beautifully structured displaying lovely elegance and precision, with a gorgeous medium-plus body. It goes on to impress with an amazing combination of bright acidity and wonderful mineral undertones all working together to keep it fresh and inviting through the mouth watering finish. While this is simply delightful today, this is a serious Morgon that has the potential age marvelously for quite some time.
