The 2012 Chateau la Liquiere ‘Vieilles Vignes’ is comprised of 40 % Carignan (vines 50 to 100 years), 40% Grenache (vines 50 to 60 years), 10 % Syrah and 10 % Mourvèdre. It has a powerful nose of violet, leather, black pepper, iron, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and mineral. On the palate this is a full-throttle wine layered with dense black fruit, earth and chocolate wrapped in firm tannins and ending with long finish. Drink it now or over the next decade plus.
