The 2016 Domaine du Grand Tinel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a sensational showing. Composed of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah from 70-year-old vines rooted in clay and limestone soils. The wine itself begins with striking aromas of red berries and pomegranate, along with dried herbs, violets, bittersweet chocolate shavings and hints of black pepper all taking shape. On the palate this possesses a medium-plus body with wonderful elegance and a gorgoeus silky texture. Structured, balanced and beautifully concentrated, this continues to deliver flavors of ripe red fruits, herbs, dark chocolate and spices that lead up to the long polished finish. This is a total beauty and should continue to age remarkably well for years to come.
