The Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine André Mathieu is sourced from 9 hectares of vineyards which are spread across several different terroirs within the appellation and it spends about 12-14 months’ aging in old “foudre” barrels. It begins with aromas of red berries, spices and some peppery nuances. On the palate this medium-bodied red possesses a lovely soft texture with a racy core of ripe red fruits which continue through the finish. Accessible now and should continue to develop nicely with some additional bottle age.
