The 2016 ‘Privilège’ is composed from 50% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre, 8% Cinsault and 5% Clairette and Bourboulenc, which comes from the Domaine’s oldest vines (70 years on average). It begins with aromas of black raspberries, plums and red berries that are woven together with cherrywood, violets, spices and hints of damp earth. This medium to full-bodied red is nicely concentrated with a gorgeous velvety texture and a lovely fresh character with continues though the long finish. The oak is a bit evident throughout, but ultimately a well-made wine which should drink beautifully for many years to come.
