The 2016 'Réserve des Deux Frères' is composed of 100% Old Vine Grenache. This massive Châteauneuf-du-Pape instantly begins with profound aromas of blackberry coulis, black cherries, sweet spices, violets, spice cake, sweet licorice and hints of pine sap all take shape. On the palate this is full-bodied and concentrated with a deep core of ripe red and dark fruits that just explode through the wine. It displays a wonderful sense of balance and freshness given its stature. Everything comes together beautifully and comes to an end with a gorgeous long, mouthwatering supple finish. This is a modern, flashy style, but also has a serious side with nice poise. Although it is aleady impressive in its youth, it also has the potential to age marvelously for quite some time.
