The 2017 'Cuvée a Tempo' Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the "prestige" Blanc from Domaine Du Pégaü, and it is simply brilliant. Composed of equal parts Clairette, Grenache Blanc, and Roussanne which was sourced from a biodynamically farmed parcel of vines averaging 25-year-old, planted to three distinct soil types: clay, sand, and galets. The wine itself begins with beautiful aromas of orchard fruits, nectarine, honeysuckle, toasted almonds, white flowers and wet stones all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous textural richness and mouthfeel, with incredible overall balance and precision, making it nearly impossible to resist. It remains beautifully textured, with a wonderful sense of freshness all the way through the wonderfully complex finish. This is an absolute beauty, and while it is already stunning in its youth, it should certainly go on to become even more compelling as it develops in bottle over the course of next decade.
