The 2016 Château la Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape tradition instantly impresses as it opens to aromas of dark berries, cherries and plums along with spice cake, warm licorice and roasted herb nuances all taking shape. This possesses a medium-plus body backed by gorgeous velvety tannins and wonderful overall structure. It goes on to display excellent concentration all the way through the spice-tinged finish. While already quite appealing in its youth it should also offer a drinking window that spans more than a decade.
