The 2017 Domaine Comte de Lauze Châteauneuf-Du-Pape is absolutely outstanding. This beautifully ripe and concentrated wine begins with fantastic aromas of dark plums, dark cherries and black raspberries woven together with spices, savory herbs, lavender and hints of tilled soil that all develop beautifully in the glass. On the palate this is well balanced with a gorgeous velvety texture and remarkable inner-depth driven by a core of dark fruit and spices which expand through the long, graceful finish. Outstanding now, but should become even more compelling as it evolves over the next decade.
