2012 TOP 50 WINES - Rank #20
The 2009 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is complex and layered with intoxicating aromas of sweet damson plums, blackberry, scorched earth, bacon, mesquite, cured meats, smoke, roasted coffee, licorice and minerals to name a few. There is such beautiful structure and balance here supported by a juicy core and silky tannins, which end in an ultra-long caressing yet chewy finish. Just an outstanding wine in every aspect!. About 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre, and 6% other authorized varietals including Counoise, Cinsault, Vaccarèse, and others (Drink 2012-2030) - July, 2012. (JD)
