One of the oldest estates in Champagne, Pnilipponat dates back to the sixteenth century. The 2008 'Grand Blanc' Champagne from Philipponnat is showing marvelously, now a decade old. The wine is a collection of grand cru and premier cru vineyards as this Chardonnay was aged in oak for five years prior to bottling. The energy and verve to this wine is intoxicating, as bright minerality persists once on the attack. Vibrant flavors of citrus rind connect with brioche, nutmeg and wild mushroom undertones as this leads up the gorgeous finish. Overall this is a stunning vintage Champagne, which should age gracefully for decades.
