An absolutely magical vintage for Sir Winston Churchill, the '96 is utterly brilliant and hitting on all cylinders at this stage in its evolution. It immediately begins to draw you in with its scintillating aromatics of sliced ripe pear, lemon oil, oyster shell and honeyed roasted cashews that are laced with a notable caramel edge that makes it simply irresistible. On the palate this doesn't miss a beat, possessing a beautiful texture, yet showing a wonderful energetic side, with lovely underlying acidity tying it all together as it glides beautifully into the precise finish. This is an absolutely dazzling bottle that is drinking tremendously well right now, it doesn't seem to show much sign of slowing down anytime soon.
