A stunning release in this somewhat challenging vintage, the 2003 is one of the finest (if not the finest) Champagnes I have tasted from the vintage. It begins with striking aromatics of intense kumquat skin, honeydew melon with earthy and smoky undertones that all come togeher beautifully in the glass. The weight and freshness is stunning as flavors of marzipan and lemon cream are all woven together with shades of white truffle shavings. This has a wonderful effervescence and remarkable seamless quality leading up to the exceedingly long finish. THe 2003 is showing incredibally well today, and possesses both the verve and viscosity to continue to cellar well for the next fifteen years. A magical Champahne from Krug.
