The 1999 Billecart-Salmon 'Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart' is showing absolutely incredible right now, bursting with aromas of warm toasted almonds, lemon zest, poached pears, dried white floral, flinty minerals and a gorgeous saline character that resonates through the wine. It offers a beautiful layered texture, backed by a nice touch of acidity and a lovely mousse that caresses your palate as it heads into the finish. Overall, this is completely compelling effort that is drinking remarkable today, yet should also continue to cellar nicely for a few more years for those looking to wait. This Cuvée consists of blending of grands crus from the classified Côte des Blancs vineyards (Chardonnay) and the Montagne de Reims (Pinot Noir). (Best 2014-2023) - November, 2014 (JD)
