The 2016 Scharzhofberger Riesling Spätlese is a drop dead gorgeous showing in this vintage. Sourced from soils composed of slate and gravel this Riesling shows a wonderful combination of ripe fruit, acidity and minerality. It beings with striking aromatics of white peachs, citrus, honey blossoms, green tea, orange zest and wet stones all developing beautifully in the glass. On the palate this continues to impress as it possesses a stunning texture with lovely weight, as the beautiful underlying acidity provides wonderful balance and freshness. Showing remarkable overall precision and poise, this is utterly brilliant Riesling is nearly impossible to resist now, however it will certainly thrive in the cellar for decades.
