The 2012 Grosse Eule (GE) was sourced from Weiser-Künstler's top vineyards in Ellergrub consisting of steeply terraced, mostly blue slate, planted to hundred-year old ungrafted vines. It is drop dead gorgeous, bursting with fresh aromas of lime, slate, saline and freshly cut acacia flowers that come together beautifully. This shows wonderful tension, focus and clarity along with bright acidity making this impossible to resist. This certainly gets better as it unwinds in the glass and although stunning today, it should continue to evolve for years to come. (Best 2014-2030) - May, 2014 (JD)
