The 2013 Dr. Pauly Bergweiler 'Wehlener Sonnenuhr' Riesling is an excellent wine from this estate. This "Sundial" vineyard is facing the small town of Wehlen across the Mosel valley. The esteemed Spatlase begins with aromatics of Pazzaz apple, Bartlett pear, gravel and Meyer lemon blossom. This leads to flavors of papaya, lemon/lime, Ranier cherry and golden delicious apple with hints of apricot. While not hugely rich, this is definitely a lithe and refreshing style of Spatlase that is hard to resist. (Best 2016-2024) - April, 2016 (OB)
