The 2015 Alte Reben is a simply gorgeous Riesling, which is all about its minerality and terroir, as it beautifully showcases the low-yeilding fruit that has been sourced from the property's oldest vines, which are deeply rooted in grey shale soils. This results in a simply elegant Riesling, which instantly opens to aromas of apple, lime zest and white tea with stony and saline minerals. It is beautifully balanced with a gorgeous texture, focused around impressive minality at its core. There is lovely balance and percision as this heads into the finish, marked by citrus and mineral notes lingering. Overall, a lovely showing and should continue to evolve beautifully over the next decade. (Best 2016-2026) - September, 2016 (JD)
