The 2016 Barbera d’Alba from Giuseppe Cortese is simply brilliant. It begins us with aromas of black raspberries, plums, smoke, minerals and fresh florals which all take shape beautifully in the glass. It possesses a gorgeous silky medium body, that shows remarkable balance with a lovely combination of fruit, minerality and acidity. This is impressive until the very end as it remains bright and focused with wonderful finesse through the finish.
