A decade after its release, the 2004 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino seems to be hitting its stride. This begins with gorgeous aromas of dark cherries and plums, which are woven together with leather, spices, tobacco and mushroom nuances all taking shape. On the palate this possesses a lovely medium body with wonderful velvety tannins that have softened nicely. It continues to impress as it displays outstanding overall balance through the graceful long finish. There is still plenty to look forward to, as this outstanding brunello should continue to drink beautifully over the next decade.
