The 2011 Giodo Brunello di Montalcino is a wonderful effort from one of Italy’s top enologists; Carlo Ferrini. As this Brunello slowly begins to take shape it releases aromas of blackberries and cherries which come together with spices, leather, licorice and an slight earthy character. Medium-bodied, refined and well structured with fine, silky tannins and a long lingering finish. A textbook Brunello, but allow this just a bit more bottle age for it to hit full stride.
