The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino from Tenuta Brunelli spent 9 months in part in Slovenian oak barrels and a part in French oak barrels and instantly opens with dark cherries and plums woven together with spices, vanilla, leather and a touch of mineral notes all coming together in the glass. On the palate this is medium to full-bodied with velvety tannins and a round supple texture underlined by a layer of acidity providing a lovely sense of freshness through the finish. While this is delicious now, it should also age nicely over the next decade and even beyond. (Best 2017-2027) - February, 2017 (JD)
