The 2012 Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino slowly opens to pretty aromas of red cherries and blackberries woven together with spices, tobacco, minerals and leather notes. On the palate this is well structured with fine, silky tannins and notable acidity adding freshness. It remains nicely balanced as everything comes together beautifully on the long, lingering finish. Overall, this is a wonderful showing, however given the structure and acidity in this wine it should continue to age gracefully over the next decade and beyond. (Best 2019-2029) - February, 2017 (JD)
