Lazzarito is another absolutely fantastic showing in this vintage from Luca Currado. This Barolo was aged for approximately 30 months between French oak barriques and Slovenian oak casks and it showcases the gorgeous characteristics if this Serralunga Cru. It begins with a striking display of aromatics, including dark berries and cherries which are laced hints of fresh violets, smoke, tar, spices and licorice that all come together and emerge gracefully from the glass. This goes on to display a remarkable combination of power and finesse, as this beautifully structured wine works its way up to the long precise finish. While Lazzarito will need a few more years of bottle age before it shows its best stuff, it clearly displays the characteristics for a marvelous evolution ahead.
