PASSOPISCIARO, Contrada Porcaria (P) 2015

Contrada Porcaria is a 90-year-old vineyard which sits at 2,100 feet above sea level with soils consisting of frail sheets of lava. As this elegant Nerello Mascalese begins to open it releases pretty aromatics of sweet red berries, floral, mediterranean herbs, and stony minerals, which slowly take shape. This medium-bodied Rosso is beautifully balanced with remarkable finesse. It remains well defined, structured around fine silky tannins, which make for a gorgeous mouthfeel. While still youthful today, this will require a bit more patience, nonetheless expect this lovely wine from Porcaria to flesh out and evolve gracefully over the course of the next decade. (Best 2020-2030) - July, 2017 (JD)
