The 2014 Gagliole is composed of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It begins with intense aromas of red berries, earth, vanilla, spices and herbs all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied with a racy core. The wine spent a minimum 16 months in french oak barriques, 40% new wood, 60% second or third passage and the use of oak is quite evident. Currently the wine seems to be entering a shutdown phase and readers may give it some additional bottle age to settle down and allow the secondary characteristics to develop.
