The 2016 'Gallule' Chianti Classico Riserva comes from the centuries-old terraced vineyards on the Antico Podere Gagliole. It is a simply gorgeous showing that begins with pretty aromas of wild berries, red plums and dried cherries which take shape around spices, wild herbs, gravel, chocolate and intense floral nuances all emerging from the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied with a silky, refined texture, underlined by a subtle minerality. It remains beautifully focused and precise with outstanding balance through the finish. Overall this is an absolutely fabulous, age-worthy Chianti Classico Riserva that will require a bit more time in bottle before it begins to hit its stride.
