The 2006 Cantine del Notaio Aglianico del Vulture Il Sigillo doses out tons of ripe black fruit, herbs, freshly turned earth, and sweet currant notes. This has a full body with a very round and polished structure. What is very intriguing about this wine is it starts out very fruit forward and sweet and finishs up dry and chewy. This is 100% Aglianico del Vulture grapes from a single historic vineyard, located on the Contrada Cerentino hillside in the village of Maschito. The grapes are harvested fully over-ripened towards the end of November, and undergo a long maceration, lasting about a month. - February, 2012 (JD)
