The 2011 'Costasera' Amarone from Masi instantly opens with wonderful aromas of sweet cherries, dark plums and blackberries followed by exotic spices and a leathery character. On the palate this is full-bodied and layered with a gorgeous soft, velvety texture which makes seamless transition onto the finish. Overall, the 'Costasera' is a wonderful showing in this vintage, but still shows plenty of youth and will ultimately require some additional bottle age before it shows its best.
