MONTE ZOVO Amarone della Valpolicella 2011

The 2011 Monte Zovo Amarone della Valpolicella is composed of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella from vineyards ten to fifteen years of age located in the upper Ilasi valley, Mezzane di Sopra, and the hill of Tegnago, at altitudes between 350 and 500 meters above sea level. As this opens it releases aromatics of cherries and raisin woven together with spices, leather and chocolate notes all coming together in the glass. On the palate this is medium to full bodied with lovely balance and a core of ripe dark cherries and chocolate notes expanding on to the lingering finish. I expect this to continue to drink well over the course of the next decade. (Best 2016-2026) - December, 2016 (JD)
