TENUTA DI TRINORO 'Campo di Magnacosta' 2017

Campo di Magnacosta is a 1.5-hectare parcel of Cabernet Franc planted to river gravel and silt on the valley's bottom, where an old stream ate into a hill which was planted more than 20-years ago with cuttings from a vineyard in Pomerol. The 2017 is a total gem, and it really shows of its Cabernet Franc character, as it begins with striking aromas of black berries and dark berries which are woven together with fresh tobacco leaf, violets, peppery spices and some tar nuances that all come together and burst from the glass. On the palate displays remarkable overall structure, concentration, and depth, but remains beautifully balanced. It goes on to impress as it delivers layers of fresh ripe dark fruits, which continue to build up to the long supple finish. As with all of wines, Andrea Franchetti aged this 8-months in new French oak and 11-months in concrete tanks. This is spectacular today, but should cruse in the cellar for well over a decade.
