The 2009 ‘Piano del Sarti’ is absolutely sensational, it immediately opens with seductive aromas of freshly crushed black cherries and currant are layered with spices, fresh violets and sandalwood which all come together beautifully. This is full-bodied with a round, plush texture, yet it shows lots of muscle while demonstrating wonderful balance. The finish is long and finessed, leaving behind gorgeous notes of pure dark fruits and hints of spices. These wines are incredibly under the radar in the US, but thats likely to change fast once word gets out on the quality these wines bring. The property is also consulted by Stéphane Derenoncourt.
