The 2008 Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino offers notes of blackberry, raspberry, scorched earth, smoke and tobacco. This is medium-bodied with fine tannins and silky finish that shows nice length. The 100% Sangiovese Rosso comes from a world-class producer who hand picks the grapes, which are then aged 12 months in French oak barrels and barriques, followed by a period of bottle aging.
