The 2017 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva 'Cagiòlo' is a wonderful showing in this vintage. It delivers pretty aromas black cherries, plums and exotic spices, which are integrated with chocolate, leather and earthy minerals which all come together and soar from the glass. This medium to full-bodied red is well structured leading to the lingering finish. While this is accessible now, I expect it to show its best stuff after another year or in bottle.
